SMALL TOWN GIRL has a new cover!

Title: Small Town Girl (Small Town #1)
Author: Linda Cunningham
Publisher: Omnific Publishing
Release: November 11, 2011
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Age Group: Adult
Reveal organized by: AToMR Tours

Book description

When Lauren Smith begrudgingly returns to the small Vermont town where she grew up to arrange for the sale of her late grandmother’s old farmhouse, she has everything she’s always worked for. Lauren drives a Mercedes. She’s engaged to one of the most powerful businessmen in the country and wears a three-carat diamond ring to prove it. She lives in a penthouse on Central Park West.

Yes, Lauren has everything she considers important. She is smugly prepared for any eventuality in dealing with these country people so Lauren isn’t surprised when the hot water isn’t working at the old house. No problem. She simply looks in the phone book and calls the local plumber.

The moment Caleb Cochran steps through the old screen door to fix the hot water, the glittery facade that masquerades as Lauren’s life begins to crumble around her. Though she tries hard to deny their mutual, magnetic attraction, Lauren is finally forced to reevaluate her focus and come face-to-face with her true self. Small Town Girl is a story of discovering the true meaning of life and love.
This novel is the first book in the Small Town series, however, each book can be read as a stand-alone.

Interview with Kiera Cass about her novel The Selection...

I had this interview with Kiera Cass last week during our Turkish book blog tour for The Selection. You can also find our dream casts for Team Maxon and Team Aspen... Enjoy!!!

The Selection is one of the most anticipated books in February here is in Turkey. I know it is not your first published book, but it is the first one here. So  can you tell us a little about yourself and your journey from writing to publishing and then tv series?

Well, I started writing as a personal form of therapy. I decided to give a character my problems and see how she dealt with them. It was a really helpful experience for me, not just because it cleared my head, but once I got into the habit of writing, stories just started coming. I live with characters in my head all the time!

I ended up self-publishing my first book, The Siren, then coming back to try the traditional route with The Selection. I found a wonderful agent and she got me my book deal. Now The Selection is going to be translated in at least a dozen different countries, including Turkey!

Here in the States, The CW is looking to make a TV adaptation of my book. They’re casting right now and will shoot in Hungary this spring. It still might not make it to air, so we’ll see what happens!

The Selection is like a fairy tale with dystopian elements.  It is different than many in the dystopian genre, not as dark to start with. It is quite refreshing, what was your inspiration? How did the story come about?

I was inspired by Esther from the Bible and Cinderella. I just wondered if Esther maybe liked the boy next door before she was shipped off to a palace that she was never coming home from, even if she wasn’t made queen. And Cinderella never asked for a prince. She asked for a night off. We assume these girls are happy because they got their man, but what if they weren’t? Their two stories merged in my head, and I knew I wanted to write about a girl who would get the attention of a prince, but she wouldn’t want it because she was already in love. And she would go through something she never actually wanted to in the process, which turned out to be the Selection. And that was it!

I read that you always create your character first. Who was the first one you have for The Selection? And who is your favorite, and of course why?

Once I had the idea for The Selection, America was in my head. The previous story I wrote, The Siren, was told by a young girl, too. I assumed they were similar and telling their stories would be exactly the same, but it wasn’t. Kahlen was hurt and wanted everyone to know about it; America was reserved and not as willing to hand over her story. I ended up having to write the book almost completely over again because I’d gotten her so wrong. I work hard to listen to my characters and be honest to what they tell me. I love them all, even the not-so-nice ones.

As we are talking about the characters, can I ask one for each? America, Aspen, and Prince Maxon?

For America; what made you feel somethings more than friendship for Maxon? (well actually I suppose it is pretty impossible not to fall for him but anyway)

Those feelings snuck up on me. I didn’t even know I liked him until he was making it clear he liked me, too. I suppose it’s that Maxon’s so generous and good. He surprised me.

For Maxon; what did you think when you first saw America?

Honestly, I didn’t know what to think. I wans’t even supposed to meet her yet! But she was different than what I was expecting, and I genuinely like that she’s herself no matter what.

For Aspen; What were you planning to tell America, if she let you, on the day she left for the palace?

I didn’t really have a plan. I just thought if I could get to her, maybe I could fix things. Sometimes I forget to think before I act... It doesn’t always work out for me.

Now one last question for all of you. What would you like to tell your Turkish readers/fans?

I just want to say that I hope you enjoy America’s story and have as much fun being in her world as I do!

Thank you for the opportunity and I hope you have a chance to visit Turkey sometime, in the near future…

The Truth About Letting Go is LIVE!

A companion to The Truth About Faking (not a sequel; the books can be read out of order), The Truth About Letting Go takes readers back to Shadow Falls, or more specifically Shadow Creek, with Ashley Lockett as she learns about real friendship, love, and letting go.

Get me
The Truth About Letting Go by Leigh Talbert Moore Ashley wants to smash everything in her once-perfect life. Charlotte wants to walk in Ashley's seemingly charmed shoes. Colt wants to turn Smalltown USA on its ear--with Ashley at his side. Jordan wants to follow his heart... but Ashley is the one sacrifice he never expected to make. Up until now, Ashley Lockett has always followed the rules. She's always done the right thing, played it safe, and then her ideal life is shattered when her dad dies suddenly. Fueled by anger and grief, she vows to do everything opposite of how she lived before. She rejects safety, the rules, faith, and then she meets Jordan. Jordan has big dreams, he's had a crush on Ashley for years, he's a great kisser... but he's also safe. Enter Colt. He is not safe, and he's more than willing to help Ashley fulfill her vow.

Get it today on Amazon * Barnes & Noble * iTunes * Kobo
Add it on Goodreads.

  Excerpt:

I feel Colt laugh, and he looks down into my face. That’s when he seems to realize what I’ve been acutely aware of for the last several minutes—our bodies are pressed together.
“It’s awesome, yeah?” he says.
“Adrenaline rush.” “Yeah,” I breathe. “I guess.” I’m not sure if he’s going to kiss me until he does. His mouth covers mine, and energy mixes with the alcohol flooding my body. Our tongues slide together, and I grip his shirt so I don’t collapse.  Every single bit of this is wrong, and there’s no way I’m stopping it. It’s back, that good feeling. The sadness has been pushed out again, and in its place is this rush, this rush of adrenaline like Colt said.
He pulls back and smiles at me. “We’re going to start dating. Now. You’re my partner in crime.”

Interview with Leigh Bardugo - author of Shadow and Bone

Today we have Leigh Bardugo as our guest author, review to come here soon...
I had this interview for my Turkish website but why not post it here as well :) So please enjoy!!!

As I have mentioned earlier, your book Shadow and Bone has recently been published in Turkey and getting quite popular pretty quickly these days. Can you tell us a little about yourself, your writing to publishing story as I have read in your bio that you are also a makeup artist? What made you decide to be a writer?

I'm so happy to hear that people are enjoying Shadow and Bone. I always wanted to write fiction, but when I was working as a copywriter and a journalist, I never dedicated enough time to my own writing projects. Somehow transitioning to a career as a makeup artist seemed to change that. I came home tired but ready to write. And working in makeup was inspiring. Makeup artists get to create illusion and their own kind of magic every day.

Your characters in the book are well developed, vivid and very relatable; not perfect and interesting, especially Alina. How did you create her? Did you have a goal in mind for her or any of other characters, in the beginning of your story? And if so, how much did you change her or others along the way?

I'm so glad you enjoyed them! I didn't really have a goal in mind, but I'm not really interested in heroes who always make the right choices or villains who just spend all of their time being evil and scheming. No one is ever just one thing. I think the key to understanding both Mal and Alina was Keramzin, the orphanage where they grew up. Once I understood this part of their past, I had a much clearer idea of how the desire to belong and to find a home would impact both of them.

Well this when the character topic is on, this question is inevitable for me, who is your favourite character and why?

My favourite character actually appears for the first time in book 2, Siege and Storm. He's a privateer named Sturmhond and he was so much fun to write. Most of my characters spend a lot of time questioning themselves, but Sturmhond is pure confidence.

As we are talking about characters, there is something else I am in awe! I am not much of a fantasy lover, especially when it comes to magic. But in your book, the magic has been so well hidden, well portrayed in the story and characters, looks very natural and realistic that I didn’t even think it was magic at all. Can you tell us about the magical powers and how/why you chose them?

I always wondered what happens when you wave a wand or speak a curse? What is the actual, physical functionality of magic? The Small Science (the magical system in my book) is basically a magical version of molecular chemistry and the Grisha manipulate matter at its most fundamental levels. I think magic feels much more real when it's constrained by rules.

Last question, can you tell us a little about the sequel? What should we expect? And of course, what would you like to tell your Turkish fans/readers?

Lots of action, some new characters, and we'll be seeing a bit more of the world outside of Ravka's borders. And I'd just like to say that I'm so honored to have my book published in Turkey. I hope my Turkish readers enjoy the series and that one of these days I'll get to visit!

I know that you are very busy these days, so thank you so much for sparing time!

Here is the book synopsis;

It seemed only natural to nickname them the ‘Onslow Boys’. Every time they swaggered in the front door of the Onslow Hotel after a hard week’s work, their laughter was loud and genuine as they settled onto their bar stools. I peeked through the restaurant partition, a flimsy divider between my world and theirs. I couldn’t help but smile whenever I saw them, saw him ... Toby Morrison.

Quiet seventeen-year-old Tess doesn’t relish the thought of a summertime job. She wants nothing more than to forget the past haunts of high school and have fun with her best friends before the dreaded Year Twelve begins.
To Tess, summer is when everything happens: riding bikes down to the lake, watching the fireworks at the Onslow Show and water bomb fights at the sweltering Sunday markets.

How did she let her friends talk her into working?

After first-shift disasters, rude, wealthy tourists and a taunting ex-boyfriend, Tess is convinced nothing good can come of working her summer away. However, Tess finds unlikely allies in a group of locals dubbed ‘The Onslow Boys’, who are old enough to drive cars, drink beer and not worry about curfews. Tess’s summer of working expands her world with a series of first times with new friends, forbidden love and heartbreaking chaos.

All with the one boy she has never been able to forget.

It will be a summer she will always remember.

Review: Road to Tomorrow - Mary Metcalfe | Novel Publicty Blog Tour

Rating : C
Author: Mary Metcalfe
Pages: 220
Language: English
Publisher: Laskin Publishing

Here is my post for Novel Publicity’s Blog Tour – Road to Tomorrow. What I love about blog tours is, I am usually coming across with a novel, I would not otherwise pick up. Road to Tomorrow is one of those novels. Now, for my review...

Even though, the subject matter is heavy, this is quite a page turner and a quick read. Andrea Garrett is a young wife and a mother. Her husband is a soldier, and they had gotten married before they knew each other better. Sean has an abusive streak, well hidden under his respected demeanor, and he is showing this side of his only to Andrea. In the beginning, Andrea was working hard to find excuses for his violent behavior, in the hopes of having family and the husband of her dreams. When she no longer could stand the abuse, she decided to took of with her two children and ran away. She left her children, with her twin brother and got on the road, to look for their future...

However, Andrea’s ordeal wasn’t over. While she was on the run, she fell asleep on the wheel and fell into a ditch. Residents of a small town step in to rescue her, however, they also let her husband on where she was. Blinded with rage, Sean was after Andrea, with the aim to kill her. He couldn’t accept her denial and being left. After this point, we witness the story of  Andrea’s decisions, plans, and her efforts of a new life in the shadows of Sean’s threats, with the author’s clear and direct writing. Of course for the details, you have to read the book...

But I can tell you this much, this is an emotional and intense one. The story is about an abusive husband, a deviant child behavior, PTDS and the consequences of those on  young women; her love life, her survival, and her new beginning... A little too much on the social messages part (maybe necessary but still a little over the scale).

Andrea is a very strong character, when she decides something, she acts on it. She struggles even though her marriage was an abusive one, to end it and leave her husband, showing that it can never be easy to leave everything behind and this side of the story makes her a very realistic character.

But I believe the best drawn character was Sean. A friendly, courageous soldier and man, among his friends, but in reality a seriously emotional wreck inside. A man stuck in between two personalities, one a respectable soldier, a good friend, a charming and handsome man and one very abusive, violent husband, an uncontrollable rage. It was quite heartbreaking.

Richard was far the most annoying character, for me. He questions her sister’s pleas and tried to believe his best friend because he appears to be a respectful man.  There were also two wonderful kids (way too wonderful if you ask me) and a nice new boyfriend (this part of the story was too shallow and fast developed for me).

The story telling is alluring, and concise, scenery and settings, especially in the town were very vivid, the dialogue, relationships and happenings were well developed and very relatable. However, especially on the relationships part, I had some issues; after, what Andrea has been through, I found, finding and accepting a new boyfriend in her life seemed too easy and quick. So this falls a little away from being realistic. After living all those horrible things with Sean, wanting to have a new life and a new beginning is something believable, but adapting to have a new man and trusting him so soon seemed a little off for me. This might be done like this, regarding to the length of the book and weight of the emotional structure. Because I believe, this is fairly a short book for this type of heavy subject matter.

Over all, this was an emotional ride with a nicely drawn characters, and presented a heavy issue without overwhelming the readers. And there is suspenseful end, with an unexpected twist.
